An agreement on cooperation between the regions of the Siberian Federal District within the framework of the interregional program "Siberian Biotechnological Initiative" was signed in Novosibirsk today. The heads of seven subjects of the Russian Federation took part in the event under the leadership of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District Nikolai Rogozhkin: Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Omsk, Tomsk regions, Altai, Krasnoyarsk Territories.
The agreement was adopted taking into account the importance of cooperation on the development and modernization of the biotechnology industry in the Siberian Federal District based on the potential of the Siberian scientific, technological, industrial and educational complexes, the press service of the Governor and the Government of the Irkutsk Region reports.
The regions that signed the agreement plan to join forces for the development of the biotechnology industry in the following areas: biotechnology for agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food industry, biomedicine, forestry, energy, ecology, housing and communal services.
"I support the joint efforts of seven entities to implement the Siberian Biotechnological Initiative program,– Nikolai Rogozhkin said. – I am sure that close constructive cooperation and cooperation of these territories of Siberia will make it possible to successfully implement the planned projects in the field of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
The agreement provides for the implementation of measures to create its own industrial production, the formation and stimulation of the consumer market, including domestic, as well as access to the world market with competitive biotechnological products."
The agreement was signed by the Governors of Irkutsk Region Sergey Levchenko, Altai Territory Alexander Karlin, Krasnoyarsk Territory Viktor Tolokonsky, Novosibirsk Region Vladimir Gorodetsky, Omsk Region Viktor Nazarov, Tomsk Region Sergey Zhvachkin, Deputy Governor of Kemerovo Region Maxim Makin.
The document is valid until December 31, 2020.
