The conference was devoted to the issues of scientific progress in the fight against aging and investments in biotechnology. The conference was attended by leading researchers of aging from the USA, Singapore and the UK, representatives of pharmaceutical companies, venture funds and medical organizations. The central event of the event was a discussion between TV presenter Vladimir Pozner and the founder of the Centaura non-profit anti-aging project Vitaly Ponomarev.

Vladimir Pozner stressed the importance of public attention to the topic of studying aging and advised scientists to actively communicate the results and significance of their work to the public: invite the media and hold press conferences. When asked why life extension is needed, the TV presenter replied: "From the height of my experience, I can say: after 80 years, you understand that life does not get more boring. You wonder: why not 120, not 150? If it is possible to make a person not grow old in the physical sense, but live to some point and end his life, but on the day before his death he would still be completely healthy? Ask any person, even a very rich one, how much would you pay to live like this for at least another 50 years? Yes, any amount!".

Vitaly Ponomarev, founder of Centaura, a non-profit anti-aging project, explained his decision to co-organize the conference and invest $16 million of his own funds in the Centaura project: "I always wanted to do something significant, to help people. Defeating aging is a large—scale task that can be solved if we abandon the traditional business short planning horizon. At the same time, anyone can invest in the fight against aging: you can support research not only financially, but also by publishing your own biological data. The combination of modern big data processing methods and the availability of genomic and other omix data, blood counts and other cellular parameters with proper financial support will allow us to defeat aging as easily as we once defeated infectious diseases."

The world's leading scientists in the field of aging research from the USA, Singapore, Great Britain and Russia made presentations: Brian Kennedy from the National University of Singapore, Joao Pedro de Magalhaes from the University of Liverpool, Vadim Gladyshev from Harvard Medical School, Vera Gorbunova and Andrey Seluanov from the University of Rochester, Jerry Shay from the University of Texas and others.

According to Brian Kennedy, "the pill for old age has not yet become a reality, but it may become one in the near future. There are already several medicinal candidates and biological additives that can slow down human aging. With the resources to study them, we will be able to find out which of these drugs work for humans. Slowing down aging is not a distant dream, but rather a short-term solution in response to the huge financial expenses and dramatic decline in the quality of life caused by the diseases of aging. However, it can be achieved only if funds are available to test the effectiveness and safety of these drugs for humans."
