Russian scientists have developed a method for determining cancer by DNA
The state Scientific Center of Virology and Biotechnology "Vector" has developed a test system for the early diagnosis of cancer by DNA, TASS reports.
Traditional technology identifies an oncomarker by the presence of specific proteins in the blood. The disadvantage of this technique is that it allows you to diagnose a tumor at a late, second, third or even fourth stage, when it becomes difficult to treat the disease.
"We are not looking at protein, but modified DNA characteristic of a cancer cell. And they appear long before specific tumor proteins are developed. Therefore, our diagnostics allows us to detect tumors at an early, first stage," TASS quotes Vitaly Kuznetsov, one of the test developers, a researcher at the Vector Center for Virology and Biotechnology. – There are similar systems abroad, but they are not certified here. It uses a complex and expensive chemical detection method. The cost of the analysis is 150 euros, that is, 10-11 thousand rubles. At the same time, they look at only one cancer marker and the "sensitivity" of the result is about 60 percent, we look at up to 10 genes at once, our detectability is 90-95 percent. The cost of our analysis is 1.5 thousand."

This test costs under 20,000 rubles, but it determines 96 cancer markers of the most common forms of cancer:
breast, ovarian, colorectal cancer and melanoma – VM.)The new technique does not require expensive equipment, the test can be carried out in any laboratory.
It is enough just to take a few milliliters of blood from the patient, after 4-5 hours the results will be ready.
Now experts are developing a test system for one of the most common types of cancer - rectum and colon, in the future there will be a technique for detecting lung, stomach and breast cancer.
The authors of the technology will seek to make the test a mandatory medical procedure during medical examination.
