Vegetables and longevity

Many generations of parents tell their children about the need to eat vegetables, because "vegetables are the key to health." Recently, these persuasions were supported by the results of a study that demonstrated the benefits of vegetables, especially if you use them all your life.

Employees of the Faculty of Health at Harvard University have been monitoring the dietary intake of 70,000 nurses for several decades. As a result, they found that those of them who ate a lot of vegetables – spinach, broccoli, zucchini, tomatoes and other fresh herbs – were 28% less likely to die from cardiac ischemia than women who had few vegetables in their diet.

Vegetable lovers also, as a rule, ate fish, poultry and fresh fruit more often. The study showed that such a diet reduced mortality from cardiovascular diseases by about 17%.

Other well-established assumptions were also confirmed: women who consumed a large amount of meat, pizza and sweet carbonated drinks died of cancer 16% more often than those who followed a diet rich in vegetables.
