Russian-German competition for young scientists in non-stop mode

Continuous competition of Russian-German scientific projects within the framework of the program
"International research groups with the participation of young scientists"

In accordance with an Agreement with the German Research Community (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) The Russian Foundation for Basic Research announces a continuous competition (NNIOM_a competition) of joint research projects, within the framework of the international DFG program "International Research Groups with the participation of young Scientists" (International Research Training Groups), carried out by research teams consisting of young researchers (graduate students, young candidates of sciences, students of the last semesters) and their scientific supervisors.

The objectives of the competition are to support young researchers at an early stage of scientific activity, to help them integrate into an active scientific environment both in Russia and abroad, to provide opportunities for obtaining knowledge from a wider range of sources, international scientific cooperation of graduate students participating in the project, to provide opportunities for joint scientific supervision of the dissertation by both Russian and foreign supervisors, activation of the initiative of graduate students in ongoing scientific research, reduction of the term of preparation of a dissertation.
Terms of the competition

Only projects of research teams that are part of a university or a scientific organization with full-time postgraduate studies can be considered in the competition. A prerequisite for participation in the competition is the inclusion of projects in a joint full application prepared by a German and Russian university or scientific organization.

On the Russian side, no more than 10 research teams can participate in the competition in each direction of fundamental research defined in the joint full application, which, in total, may include up to 20 graduate students no older than 28 years, no more than 2 candidates of sciences no older than 35 years and no more than 3 students of the last semesters.

Features of financing of Russian project participantsThe financing of the supported projects begins in the first half of the year following the year of making a positive decision on the full application, and is carried out in annual volume.

Financing of the 2nd and 3rd year of work on the project is carried out based on the results of reports submitted 12 and 24 months after the start of financing, respectively. The maximum annual grant amount is 400 thousand rubles.

When allocating the allocated funds by type of project implementation costs, it is necessary to provide:

  • Allocation of funds for mutual visits of participants of the joint application;
  • Allocation of funds for joint scientific seminars in Russia and participation in joint scientific seminars in Germany;
  • Allocation of funds for the salaries of project participants, of which at least 75% of the allocated funds should be directed to the salaries of young researchers participating in the project.

Funds for reimbursement of organizational and technical expenses of the organization for project support are not charged.
