The 61-year-old politician wrote on his Facebook page about his readiness to provide his organs for donor material.

– Yes, I consent to the use of my organs for donation if I die, – the prime minister wrote on the Internet. – Today 1,200 people are waiting for transplantation, and in 2011 66 patients died without waiting for their turn. We need to encourage donation, because the generosity of one person can save lives.

Also on his page, Elio Di Rupo showed a corresponding questionnaire for donation, which must be filled out by everyone who wants to donate organs in case of death.

On Tuesday, September 17, Belgian Facebook created a new feature for potential donors. Now everyone who wants to become a donor after death can indicate this on their page.

The Belgian Prime Minister was one of the first to take advantage of the innovation, and filled out the corresponding form on the website of the Ministry of Health.
