Russian pharmaceutical industry in 2006

Ratings of pharmaceutical enterprisesThis article analyzes the dynamics of ratings determined quarterly, according to the output indicators of enterprises in the industry for 2006: the volume and dynamics of drug production (Table 1, Fig. 1).

Let's consider the results of the largest pharmaceutical industry enterprises during the year. The greatest success was achieved by JSC Shchelkovsky Vitamin Plant, which dropped from 1st place in the first quarter by 4 in the second quarter, but already by the results of the third quarter took 2nd place, and in general for the year – the first.

JSC "Nizhpharm" (Nizhny Novgorod), occupying the 2nd place in the first quarter, fell to the third in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, and in general, at the end of the year, it still retained the 2nd place.

F-l FSUE NPO Microgen of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation "Immunopreparat" in the I and II quarters of 2006 took 26 and 29 places in the rating in terms of output, but in the III quarter it came out on the 1st place, showing one of the highest results in the dynamics of drug production, and at the end of the year it was on the 3rd place.

F-l LLC NPF "MATERIA MEDICA HOLDING" dropped from 3rd place in the first quarter to sixth in the II and III quarters, and overall took fourth place for the year.

Kraspharma, which was ranked 5th in the first quarter, dropped to 7th and 9th place in the second and third quarters and ended up in fifth at the end of the year.

JSC Akrikhin showed unstable results throughout the year: it rose from 10th place in the first quarter to 5th place in the second and again to 10th place in the third. As a result, in 2006 the company managed to take the 6th place.

Rating of industrial groupsThe share of KC output of industrial groups in the total volume in Russia increased from 31.8% in the first quarter to 45.4% in the third, and according to the results of 2006 amounted to 42.16% (Tables 2, 3, Fig. 2, 3).

                        

At the same time, the share of the industrial group of FSUE NPO "Microgen" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in the total volume in Russia from 14.83% in the second quarter increased by 3.31 points and according to the results of the third quarter amounted to 18.14%, and for the year – 12.78%.

The share of JSC "Domestic Medicines" in the total volume in Russia during the year tended to decrease from 13.46% in the first quarter to 8.48% in the third quarter, in 2006 it was at the level of 10.92%.

The share of CJSC "FARM-CENTER" decreased from 5.51% in the first quarter to 4.94% in the second, then increased slightly by the end of the third quarter to 5.2% and by the end of the year amounted to 5.39%.

The share of the industrial group Pharmstandard LLC in the total volume in Russia during the year ranged from 6.15% to 8.38%, and for the year – 7.71%.

And only the Veropharm CJSC industrial group showed positive dynamics of this indicator throughout the year: from 4.46% in the first quarter to 6.06% in the third quarter, and as a result, 5.36% for the year.

Compared to the previous year, the share of industrial groups in the total volume of drug production increased by 5.44 points. Analysis of the structure of the increase in the share of drugs showed that the increase was observed in all industrial groups and the most significant – in FSUE NPO "Microgen" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation – by 3.81 points.

The dynamics of ratings on the indicators of drug production of the 30 largest manufacturers of pharmaceutical products, taking into account industrial groups, is shown in Table 3.

The table shows that among the industrial groups, stability throughout the year was noted at FSUE NPO Microgen of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation – 1st place in all the reporting periods under consideration, with the exception of the first quarter, when the enterprises that are part of this NGO were not yet considered as an industrial group. The results of JSC "Domestic Medicines" are also stable – 2nd place (I quarter – 1st place without FSUE NPO "Microgen" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation), and LLC "Pharmstandard" – 3rd place (I quarter – 2nd place without FSUE NPO "Microgen" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation).

CJSC FARM-CENTER dropped from 4th place in the first quarter to 5th place in the second and second quarters, and took 4th place for the year. Veropharm CJSC had the opposite picture: it rose from 5th place in the first quarter to 4th place in the second and third quarters, and in general it was in 5th place for the year.

Regional issue of personal medicineThe dynamics of the specific output and the specific weight of the total production of drugs produced by pharmaceutical enterprises included in the rating by economic districts and regions of the Russian Federation is shown in Table 4.

Let's consider the dynamics of the share of the output of the traditional six leaders in this indicator.

The share of the Central Economic Region in the total volume of Russia throughout the year steadily decreased from 36.31% in the first quarter to 33.38% for the year.

In the West Siberian region, there was a wave-like change in the share from 14.24% in the first quarter to 13.27% in 2006.

An increase in the share was noted in the Ural Economic District from 13.91% in the first quarter to 23.94% in the third quarter, and then a decrease to 18.52% over the year.

A systematic decrease in the share was observed in the Volga-Vyatka district: from 12.11% in the first quarter to 10.54% for the year. The reverse pattern was observed in the East Siberian and Central Chernozem economic regions: from 7.05% and 5.99% in the first quarter to 8.09% and 7.08% for the year, respectively.

The average for the group of pharmaceutical enterprises included in the rating, the value of the specific volume of drug output, i.e. the average volume of output per enterprise of each district, according to the results of drug production for 2006 amounted to 574.721 million rubles. The analysis of the results of the activities of the enterprises of the industry showed that the leader in this indicator was the East Siberian Economic District - 1034.755 million rubles, or 1.8 times higher than the average value for this group of enterprises.
