MMIF-2018: results

On November 29, 2018, the II International Medical Investment Forum (MMIF-2018) was held at the Congress Center of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

The event was prepared with the cooperation of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy and I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Federal for supervision in the field of healthcare, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund and Rostec State Corporation.

The Chairman of the forum, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Karelova Galina Nikolaevna noted the importance and relevance of the event:

– The era of new medicine is coming, the vector of development of which should be aimed at the integration and concentration of intellectual and material resources. In order to improve and develop innovative activities in one of the most sensitive sectors of life for society, it is necessary to create a favorable climate for attracting investments in the pharmaceutical and medical industries, to provide all-round support for developments in the field of pharmacology, biotechnics and instrumentation.

The venue for the II-th International Medical Investment Forum has traditionally been the I.M. Sechenov Moscow State Medical University. Andrey A. Svistunov, the first vice-rector of Sechenov University, spoke about the goals of the event:

– The II International Investment Forum is an important event for everyone who is interested in the fate of healthcare in Russia. This is the second time the Forum has become a platform for discussing the "hot spots" of healthcare. The participants had the opportunity not only to share their knowledge, developments, beliefs, but also to learn about the modern economic opportunities of leading Russian and foreign investment companies, banks, research institutes in the field of biotechnology and medicine. Sechenov University was chosen for a reason to host the forum. Currently, we are transforming into a world-class university, the vector of development of which is breakthrough research and entrepreneurial projects. These projects will have a significant result for Russia within the framework of the National Technology Initiative.

The Forum was attended by more than 600 people, including government officials, scientists, heads of leading Russian and foreign investment companies, banks, research institutes, national centers, medical centers, as well as creators of the latest technologies in the field of medicine.

Andrey A. Ryabov, Executive Director of the forum, emphasized the uniqueness of this event for effective interaction between healthcare, private business and the state:

– The content of the II International Medical Investment Forum 2018 was enriched with such new sessions and round tables as the export of medical services, international cooperation, nuclear medicine, health age – active longevity. The new topics of the Forum reflect the challenges of the time, Decrees of the President of the Russian Federation, national priority programs, modern trends in the development of society.

Alexey Repik, Chairman of the Board of Directors of R-Pharm Group of Companies, noted the importance and necessity of a dialogue between representatives of regulatory authorities in the field of healthcare, relevant ministries, business and scientists, whom the Forum was able to gather on one platform:

 – This event is an excellent platform that unites representatives of the healthcare sector, academia, government and business for an open dialogue and the implementation of progressive initiatives.

The Government of the Russian Federation today faces ambitious tasks to create conditions for improving the quality and accessibility of medical care to the population, the introduction of innovative medical technologies. In this regard, the search for the most effective ways to attract investment for promising business projects is an objective necessity.

The R-Pharm company acted as the General Partner of the MMIF-2018, marking out an extensive exhibition at the Forum site for the presentation of its latest developments. Within the framework of the business program, the company's employees acted as moderators and speakers of the sessions "International cooperation of Russia in the field of medicine and pharmaceuticals", "Prospects for the development of the Russian medical and pharmaceutical industry within the framework of the 2030 Strategy" and "Digital medicine is a promising area of healthcare. Internet technologies, IT in medicine, E-Health, electronic gadgets", outlining the main development trends in the field of medicine, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

Within the framework of the II International Medical Investment Forum, an agreement was signed between the "National Medical Research Center of Radiology" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation represented by Director General A.D. Kaprin, Rusatom Healthcare Joint Stock Company represented by Director General D.V. Cherednichenko and MedInvestGroup LLC represented by President S.A. Notov. The purpose of the agreement was to develop cooperation between the parties in the field of healthcare, including the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases using advanced achievements in the field of nuclear medicine. One of the areas of cooperation between the parties is the creation in Obninsk, Kaluga region, of a therapeutic and diagnostic unit for radionuclide therapy using open radionuclide sources and radionuclide diagnostics using radiopharmaceuticals.

Also during the event, two cooperation agreements were signed by the First Sechenov Moscow State Medical University. Within the framework of the signed agreement with the Swiss-Russian Forum Foundation, it is planned to develop cooperation in the field of medical science and education between Sechenov University and universities and university hospitals in Switzerland. The agreement provides for holding joint symposiums, conferences, seminars and round tables, exchange of students, postgraduates, scientists and teachers, participation in grant and competitive programs is provided. Sechenov University gets access to joint educational programs supported and funded by the Swiss-Russian Forum, to scientific projects conducted by Swiss colleagues, to world-class clinical research. So, this year, thanks to the support of the forum, an agreement was signed with the company "Roche", which is already investing in the university's research in the field of oncology. In addition, it was decided to hold the second Swiss-Russian Forum at Sechenov University.

The agreement signed with the Scientific Center for the Examination of Medical Products involves the implementation of projects for the development of regulatory relations in Russia, the development of new innovative methods for the diagnosis and quality control of medicines and the training of highly qualified specialists. The first result of the joint activity will be recommendations on the organization of production for clinical and preclinical studies of gene therapy drugs. Currently, Sechenov University is conducting the first preclinical trial of a drug for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. This study, supported by a grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, is designed for three years. Cooperation also implies training and joint scientific work, which is expressed not only in the creation of recommendations, but also in the publication of joint works.

The guests of the event took part in thematic sessions and discussions of the Forum, discussed topical issues of the development of the Russian healthcare system, including concrete steps to change it. An exhibition space was also organized in which the Forum participants presented developments and solutions for improving the healthcare industry. LabQuest Laboratory of Personalized Medicine presented the SHOWCASE project with unique complex laboratory diagnostic studies. Discussions and presentations related to digital medicine, Internet technologies, and the use of electronic gadgets in the healthcare sector were of particular interest to the participants.
