Fulbright Program Grants

Grants are awarded on a competitive basis.

The program is designed for: 
1) Independent scientists with academic degrees, employees of research institutes, university teachers; 
2) Artists and specialists in the field of applied and creative disciplines (the presence of an academic degree is not required).

Representatives of all fields of science can participate in the competition. The full list of competitive disciplines is given in the section "List of competitive disciplines".

In the 2009-2010 academic year, 35-40 grants will be provided on a competitive basis for a trip to a US university for:

  • lectures
  • conducting scientific research
  • conducting master classes (in creative disciplines)

The duration of the grant is from 3 to 9 months.Each grant includes:

  • monthly scholarship
  • limited health insurance
  • full payment of transportation costs

The age of applicants is not limited.The list of competition documents, as well as a detailed description of the specifics of the program, requirements for applicants, stages of the competition and the application preparation process are given in the section "Part 1 of the application: mandatory information".

The cover sheet of the application form included in the set of documents (Application Cover Sheet) and the questionnaire itself (2009-2010 Visiting Scholar Application Form) are contained in the sections "Part 2 of the application" and "Part 3 of the application".

All materials are submitted to the competition in electronic form.

  Those pages where there is a photo or a signature of the applicant or another person (Application Cover Sheet, p.

D questionnaires, letters of recommendation and an invitation from the university) are pre-scanned to preserve the image of the signature and photos.                   In addition, pages with a signature and a photo are sent to the Moscow office of the Fulbright program in printed form in one copy.

                       To enter the United States, Fulbright fellows receive a J-1 visa, which provides for an immediate return to Russia at the end of the grant period and stay in the Russian Federation for 2 years without the right to emigrate to the United States or obtain a work visa.

Attention! The Fulbright Program does not discriminate on the basis of gender, nationality, religion or race.

All stages of the competition are held in Russia, so the full set of documents must be sent to the Moscow office of the Fulbright program. All contestants are advised to keep a spare set of competition documents in case they are lost.
