Bioinformatics Summer School 2014
The Summer School is held annually for students studying bioinformatics, as well as undergraduates, postgraduates and young scientists of mathematical, technical and biological specialties who are interested in bioinformatics and want to get acquainted with this field. The working language of the school is Russian.
Venue and dates: July 27 – August 1, 2014, boarding house near St. Petersburg (village of Roshchino).
Main sections:
- bioinformatics for mathematicians and computer scientists
- bioinformatics for biologists
- general lectures and seminars on bioinformatics from leading bioinformatics scientists
- mini-conference and poster session
Classes will be held in the format of lectures, intensive courses in molecular biology and programming, master classes. Topics will include NGS and RNA-seq data analysis, systems biology, genome and transcriptome assembly and analysis, metagenomics, comparative genomics, computational mass spectrometry, phylogeny, epigenetics, molecular evolution, database work and much more.
The school will host a mini-conference and a poster session for those who have already started to engage in bioinformatics projects. There will also be organized teamwork on real tasks, discussions with invited experts, lectures on business in the field of bioinformatics and biotechnology, seminars on presentation skills, ethics and preparation of posters and articles, as well as other interesting events.
Participation is free, a competitive selection is carried out. Accommodation will be organized centrally in the boarding house where classes will be held. For the authors of the best applications, accommodation and meals at the school will be fully paid by the organizers.
The school will host a mini-conference and a poster session for those who have already started to engage in bioinformatics projects. Participants submitting abstracts will receive an advantage in the selection, all other things being equal. Abstracts are accepted on broad issues of bioinformatics and must be attached to the application.
To participate in the selection, you must fill out the form by June 1, 23:59 Moscow time (the deadline for submitting applications has been extended until June 15). The decision on admission will be made by the program committee together with the results of the main competition on June 25.
