BIOCAD will train future employees in the Master's program in Biomedicine and Bioengineering of SPCFU

A new master's program "Bioengineering and Biomedicine" is being opened on the basis of the St. Petersburg Chemical and Pharmaceutical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia under the patronage of the biotech company BIOCAD. The first set will be 15 people. Earlier, the company initiated the opening of the Department of "Recombinant Protein Technologies", which has been successfully operating at SPCFU since 2012.
As part of the new master's program, students will gain knowledge about modern biotechnological methods, about the features of the search and development of drugs based on monoclonal antibodies and drugs for gene therapy, about the increasing role of computer science in the development process, high-performance molecular modeling, big data analysis, hybrid technologies, automation and robotics, and much more. According to Alexander Karabelsky, Director of the Department of Advanced Research of BIOCAD, who headed the new master's program, today the training of personnel for the pharmaceutical industry requires a deep understanding of the real problems of the process of creating innovative high-tech medicines.
"Such knowledge comes only with practice," explains Alexander Karabelsky, Our program gives students the opportunity not only to gain knowledge about the latest discoveries and current research in this field of knowledge, but also to get involved in real research projects from the beginning of classes in September. In addition, BIOCAD itself urgently needs specialists of this profile. I admit that in the coming years we will need at least 10-15 bioengineers who know chemistry and biology at the same time, who are able to work both on high-precision and productive equipment within the framework of research projects and on pilot production sites, who know management and the interrelationships of biotech processes."
According to the organizers of the master's program, it is very important to have the most up-to-date information in the conditions of constantly developing technologies. The future of biotech belongs to specialists of new profiles with an interdisciplinary approach to the problem. It is assumed that students of the master's program "Bioengineering and Biomedicine" will undergo practical training, including at BIOCAD, will take part in specialized conferences, will be able not only to study, but also to work with leading industry specialists. The program involves targeted training of researchers and practitioners who are able to master and develop the latest technologies for the development and production of targeted highly effective biotechnological medicines of various nature.
The acceptance of documents is announced until July 10, and the completion of entrance tests conducted at the St. Petersburg Chemical and Pharmaceutical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia is scheduled for July 27.
