Subsidies for young St. Petersburg scientists

In accordance with the Decree of the Government of St. Petersburg dated 28.04.2014 No. 297 "On the provision in 2014 of subsidies provided to the Committee on Science and Higher Education by the Law of St. Petersburg "On the Budget of St. Petersburg for 2014 and for the planning period of 2015 and 2016", the Committee on Science and Higher Education conducts a competitive selection for In 2014, grants were provided to young scientists, young candidates of sciences of universities, industry and academic institutes located in St. Petersburg (hereinafter referred to as competitive selection).

Subsidies are provided on a gratuitous and irrevocable basis to young scientists, young candidates of sciences of universities, industry and academic institutes located on the territory of St. Petersburg (hereinafter referred to as applicants for subsidies), in order to reimburse costs incurred in 2014 in connection with the implementation of scientific, scientific and technical activities, experimental developments, conducting applied scientific research (hereinafter referred to as costs).

Universities in this notice are understood as educational organizations of higher education that have state accreditation of educational activities and are located on the territory of St. Petersburg

In this notice, branch institutes are understood to be state and non-state research institutes and other scientific organizations located on the territory of St. Petersburg and training highly qualified personnel.

Academic institutes in this notice are understood to be institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Education, the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, and the Russian Academy of Arts located on the territory of St. Petersburg.

In this notice, young scientists are understood to be individuals under the age of 35 (with the exception of students and postgraduates of universities, branch and academic institutes located on the territory of St. Petersburg), engaged in scientific, scientific and technical activities, experimental developments, conducting applied scientific research, who do not have an academic degree.

In this notice, young candidates of sciences are understood to be individuals under the age of 35 who carry out scientific, scientific and technical activities, experimental developments, conducting applied scientific research, having an academic degree of candidate of sciences.

The conditions for granting subsidies are:

  • implementation by applicants for subsidies of scientific, scientific and technical activities, experimental developments, conducting applied scientific research in universities, industry or academic institutions located on the territory of St. Petersburg;
  • documentary evidence of expenses reimbursed by subsidies;
  • absence of other budgetary allocations for cost recovery.

Each applicant for subsidies may submit only one application for a grant for competitive selection.

The maximum amount of the subsidy is 100 thousand rubles for young scientists, 150 thousand rubles for young candidates of sciences.

The deadline for submitting applications is from May 8 to June 9, 2014 (inclusive).
