Quite a scientific article

Three scientific journals published an article based on facts from the cartoon Rick and Morty

Farooq Ali Khan, a doctoral student and teacher from Hyderabad, India, was very fond of the series Rick and Morty. And I didn't like cheating at universities. His addictions resulted in the fact that he decided to try to publish articles based on facts from Rick and Morty. The attempt turned out to be the fact that three magazines published his article! (Here is one example, hurry up to see before it is deleted – VM.)

Farooq Ali Khan was concerned that for one decent peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes only verified facts, there are several "predatory" journals that will publish anything just to get money for it.

Therefore, he took from one fighter against this kind of corruption in science, Jeffrey Beall, a list of journals suspected of poor quality of publications, and selected 14 from there. In them he sent out his article "New tools for combating intergalactic parasites and their contagiousness (contagiousness) in the Zirgion simulation" (Newer Tools to Fight Inter-Galactic Parasites and Their Transmissibility in Zyrgion Simulation).

This article is based on facts from Rick and Morty. One of the lead authors of the study is Beth Smith, that is, Rick's daughter from the cartoon. In the episode, intergalactic parasites are introduced into a person and replace his memory with a false one.

Three magazines immediately refused publication. "What is this, a joke?" one editor replied. "I am confused by the language of the article, I do not know many words from there. For example, what is dingbop, schlim and schwintinization?" — wrote another.

Three magazines published an article. A few more asked for money for publication. Only one out of 14 invited reviewers to give their opinion.

The fact that there are a lot of unscrupulous journals around does not tell us that we should immediately consider the whole science irrevocably spoiled, Ali Khan believes. It is simply necessary to check every time from which source we received this or that fact.
