"Cadres of the Future"-2011 in Dubna

In Dubna, preparations have begun for the third summer student scientific and technical school "Cadres of the Future", which aims not only to attract talented young people from Russian regions to work in resident companies of the Dubna special economic zone and at enterprises of the scientific and industrial complex of the city, but also to realize the potential of Dubna University, popularization of the Dubna science city, disclosure of the creative abilities of school participants through project activities. Last year, about 120 senior students from 20 Russian universities participated in the work of the school.

What is expected in 2011, are there any changes in the organization and conduct of the student scientific and technical school?

This question is answered by the director of the Training Center of the special economic zone "Dubna" Mikhail Belev:

– Like last year, the Cadres of the Future school will be held in early July at the Dubna University from July 5 to July 12, 2011.

Within the framework of the school "Cadres of the Future"-2010, 5 sections worked: nuclear physics and nanotechnology (with subsections on nanophysics and nanochemistry), information technology (subsections on information and analytical systems and grid technologies), design of complex technical systems, biomedical technologies, economics and management. Now there are six sections: the direction "nanochemistry" stood out as an independent one. The new approach is supposed to be applied in the Economics and Management section: to invite students to work on their projects at the Department of Project Management of Dubna University, so that they practice some of the mechanisms of the acquired knowledge.

The conditions and the system of selection of students of the school are the same: this is a project approach, the guys are preparing competitive tasks on the topics announced by us, which, in turn, were formed taking into account the interests of the resident companies of the Dubna SEZ (first of all), as well as organizations of the scientific and industrial complex of the city. They have undergone some changes, have become more specialized, in order to recruit a more targeted audience of students of the school, under the activities of companies.

The planned number of participants of the school is 90, while we are trying to expand their geography. The participating universities of the previous schools are happy to respond to the invitation to participate in the school "Cadres of the Future"-2011 and give good feedback about the previous schools. 17 Russian universities have already given their preliminary consent to participate in our school today, they will send their students' competitive works. Enrollment of participants is expected to take place in May.

As in previous years, we are planning a wide cultural and sports program for school participants, study tours to the enterprises of the city, to the resident companies of the special economic zone. Now companies that have received the status of a SEZ resident again express interest in participating in the Cadres of the Future school. It is really gaining momentum.

We are glad that so far, despite all the difficulties, the school retains its format: participation, meals and accommodation for students are free, the guys pay only for the road.

Have you analyzed the specific impact – have any of the participants of the school already found a job in companies?– By the nature of my work at the Personnel Training Center, I am just tracking this information.

Of course, it's too early to talk about the results: the format of our school is designed for the future. Nevertheless, according to the results of the first school, 5 students remained in Dubna, enrolled in the master's program of our university and all were employed in resident companies. According to the results of 2010, the situation is the same: 5 people have enrolled in the Master's degree program at Dubna University and also all work in resident companies. But there is a slight change: if earlier the guys specialized mainly in the field of information technology, now the first representative in the specialty of management has already appeared – the horizons are beginning to expand. Based on the results of this school, we expect an expansion of the contingent from the nanosector.
