Competition of Russian innovations: biotechnology and medicine are ahead

Awards to creators"Expert Online"
This year 520 projects have come to the Russian Innovation Competition.

To the surprise of the expert council, a large number of developments in the field of biotechnology and medicine were presented, they also made up the majority among the winners. The eighth competition showed that the innovative palette of Russia remains quite diverse: this year there are especially many finalists not from traditional metropolitan centers. And among the winners are such post-Soviet technocratic centers as Kovrov and Krasnoyarsk.

DNA in the briefcaseThe Grand Prix of the Russian Innovation Competition was awarded to the project "Mobile Genetic Laboratory".

With the help of equipment that fits into a small suitcase on wheels weighing only 26 kg, you can quickly carry out a range of genetic studies. In particular, to identify pathogens of infectious diseases, to check the compatibility of tissues during transplantation, to find genetically modified components in products, to find out the genetic characteristics of the body and predisposition to various diseases. The mobile laboratory was invented and implemented by specialists of the Moscow scientific and production company "DNA Technology". It will provide great assistance to specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Defense, Roszdravnadzor and some scientific institutions.

Voice recognitionThe winner in the nomination "Innovative Company" was the St. Petersburg Speech Technology Center (MDG), which presented the project "Voice Key Identification Technology".

This system allows you to establish his identity regardless of the speaker's language. Each person has their own individual "voice fingerprint" and Voice Key can be used if it is necessary, for example, to check that it was their owner who used the password or electronic key.

Our experts decided that in the case of the MDG, it is not the project that needs to be nominated, even if it is one of the strongest of those who came to the competition, but the company itself, whose hardware and software complex "Icar Lab" is already used by forensic experts of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB to identify an individual by recording, determine the means of sound recording, improve quality and intelligibility of phonograms.

Herpes gelIn the nomination "Innovative project", the development of Allopharm LLC from St. Petersburg - antiviral and antitumor agents of the new generation won.

For example, the therapeutic and cosmetic gel "Allomedin" is now considered the most effective remedy against herpes. The prototype of allostatin, the active ingredient of the gel, was the peptide alloferon, which the researchers borrowed from the so-called surgical larvae, known for their antibacterial and antiviral activity.

Scientists have taken up arms against herpes due to the fact that this virus has many genes that "control" the immune system - our cells stop noticing the virus. Allostatin, on the contrary, encourages our killer immune cells to attack those infected with the virus, while viruses cannot develop resistance to them. It should be noted that those drugs that are now called antiherpes only stop the replication of the virus, but the virus carrier cells do not disappear anywhere. Therefore, after a while, herpes reappears.

Wells of a given sizeThe project "Technology of integrated Nanoelectromechanical (NEMS) structures for the industrial production of active nanomembranes, gas sensors and non-volatile memory", which was proposed by a group of developers headed by Stanislav Khartov, a researcher at the Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, received the award in the White Book nomination.

This technology may soon become one of the main directions in the field of nanotechnology. Thanks to it, an opportunity opens up for the creation of a fundamentally new class of devices — active nanomembranes, which will dramatically increase the possibilities of "nanomanipulation" of the processed substance. The technology proposed by Khartov and his colleagues can find effective application in the creation of various sensor devices, non-volatile memory and photonic crystals. In addition, the project of the Hartov group considers one of the most promising applications for the use of active membranes – high-performance energy-saving desalination of seawater.

Stem healingThe project "Development and certification of a medical device for spinal injury using cellular technologies" was recognized as the winner in the nomination "Promising project".

Scientists from the Krasnoyarsk State Medical University named after V.F.Voino-Yasenetsky together with the innovative company "Collahit" have developed a biocompatible matrix with human tissues on which stem cells can be placed. It is assumed, for example, that when implanted in the site of spinal cord injury, such a matrix will contribute to the restoration of nervous tissue. In addition, preparations based on the natural polysaccharide polymer chitin and its derivative chitosan promote scar–free wound healing and restoration of blood vessels that revitalize the retina and the optic nerve.

Program efficiencyThe winner in the nomination "Innovation for Industry" was recognized as the project "Automated ASONICS system for the design of highly reliable electronic means based on the principles of CALS technologies".

Proposed by a team of scientists, technologists and programmers of CALS-Technologies LLC (Kovrov, Vladimir region), headed by Alexander Shaumov, a universal IT product can significantly increase the overall efficiency of the structural divisions of manufacturing enterprises of various high-tech products.

To date, the automated ASONIKA system has been successfully implemented at many enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex, becoming the first domestic automated modeling system officially recommended by a special document of the Ministry of Defense to replace tests of electronic equipment (on-board computers, power amplifiers, signal generators, etc.) at the early stages of design.
