Entrepreneurial competition "Business of Innovative Technologies" (BIT-2008)

Make the investor believe in you! Under this motto, the Business of Innovative Technologies Business competition is being held in Russia for the fifth time. Its goal is to initiate the creation of new technology companies and promote the development of a culture of entrepreneurship in the Russian high tech sector.

The competition is held according to the principles of the well-known MIT $100K entrepreneurial competition. This is not only a competition of innovative ideas, but also a competition of business plans and teams capable of turning ideas into a successful business. The distinctive features of the competition are the training of participants in the necessary skills to create a successful business and team building events that allow aspiring entrepreneurs to find useful team members.

Just like last year, HSE 10K (HSE-HSE) "subsidiary" competitions, BIT-SPb, BIT-Volga Region and BIT-Far East regional competitions are held within the framework of BIT-2008. The winners of these contests go straight to the semi-finals of BIT-2008. Cooperation with the Microsoft Imagine Cup competition continues: the winners of the Russian Imagine Cup tour also qualify for the semi-finals of BIT-2008.

The prize fund of the BIT contest is $30,000: $20,000 of them are awarded for the first place and $5,000 each for the second and third. 70% of the prize fund is given out in money, the rest is provided with services necessary for the organization and development of a new business. The services are provided by the sponsors and partners of the contest. In particular, the winners of the competition represent Russia at the IBTEC International Business Plan Championship, which will be held in Berkeley (USA) in the fall of 2008, will be able to participate in the Russian Venture Fair. As part of BIT-2008, Microsoft introduces the nomination "Software of the Future", the special prize of which will be a trip to the annual TechEd 2008 European conference in Amsterdam (November 2008). In addition, the teams that submitted software projects and made it to the semifinals of BIT-2008 will have the opportunity to receive free training in the basics of innovative entrepreneurship under the Start in garage program.

There are no age restrictions on participation in the competition. There is only one condition: the team leader applying for participation must represent an organization (university, scientific institute, commercial company).

However, the main thing in the BIT, as in the Olympic movement, is not victory, but participation. The opportunity to learn something and "shine" in front of investors within the framework of the competition (the BIT's judging body includes representatives of the Russian and American community of venture investors) brings quite concrete benefits.

Applications for participation in BIT-2008 are accepted on the official website of the competition www.bit-konkurs.ru . There you will also find comprehensive information on all issues related to participation in the competition.
