"Clear Internet" for pensioners and the disabled

The Ulyanovsk region will host the first Interregional scientific and practical conference "Modern information technologies as a factor in improving the quality of life of older people and the disabled. "Clear Internet", the official website of the Governor and the Government of the Ulyanovsk region reports.

The event, which will take place on September 4-5, will be attended by more than 120 representatives of federal authorities and regional administrations, non-profit organizations, socially responsible business.

The conference is held on the initiative of the Union of Pensioners of Russia and the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region with the support of the Presidential Commission for Veterans Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation, the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, the Regional Charitable Public Foundation "Quality of Life". It is planned that the event will be attended by Governor Sergey Morozov, Chairman of the Union of Pensioners of Russia, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Valery Ryazansky, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Alexey Vovchenko, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Galina Karelova, representatives of the EU Commission.

The conference in the Ulyanovsk region will become the largest Russian platform where experts will be able to discuss the integration of pensioners and citizens with disabilities into the processes of informatization, as well as the problem of ensuring equal access to digital technologies regardless of the region of residence and age. Participants will share their experience in teaching computer literacy to the elderly and disabled and discuss the possibility of creating a federal program for informatization of the older generation and support for active longevity.

During the conference, the competition "Accessible Internet" will be launched, which is held by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation among the organizers of educational programs for older people.

"Ensuring a decent old age for its citizens is one of the most important priorities of the state. Today, the informatization of the elderly and people with disabilities is in line with strategic objectives to improve their quality of life and the development of the information society as a whole. I am sure that the conference will help to draw public attention to this problem," said Valery Ryazansky, Chairman of the Union of Pensioners of Russia, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy.

The III All-Russian Computer All-Around Championship among pensioners and persons with disabilities will be held within the framework of the conference. Its participants will be more than 70 people aged 55 to 73 years – graduates of computer literacy courses or winners of qualifying regional championships, which were held in 42 regions of the country. They will demonstrate their knowledge in MS Word and MS Excel programs, skills in creating presentations in the Power Point program, the ability to use the portal of public services and search engines, etc.

On the days of the event on September 4 and 5, 2013, a live broadcast will be organized on the official website of the conference, as well as a series of reports on the key decisions of the conference and the opinions of experts.
