Do you want to lose weight? Ask her how!

A resident of the USA decided to lose weight with the help of an overlay sewn on the tongue

Copper newsA Venezuelan woman who moved to the United States decided to lose weight using a newfangled method – a special lining that is attached to the upper part of the tongue with six staples, Medical Daily reports ('Miracle' Tongue Patch Surgery Causes 30 Pound Weight Loss, By Making Eating Near Impossible).

Such an overlay literally forces a woman to give up solid food, which becomes painful to eat.

"I didn't have enough willpower to go on a diet. This procedure was the only way out for me," a patient named Yomaira Jaspe commented on her decision.

The patch, or patch, which doctors attach to the surface of the patient's tongue, is made of a rigid polymer material (a copolymer of polypropylene and high-density polyethylene). A woman who wants to lose weight wears it for a month – and at this time she is forced to switch to liquid food, since the absorption of solid food becomes a painful process for her. Doctors practicing this fashionable method of weight loss consider it less invasive compared to traditional methods, for example, bariatric surgery.

It is worth noting that this technique is not approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Despite this, women can get a tongue patch in one of the clinics in Los Angeles. Venezuela, whose inhabitants are obsessed with beauty, is considered the birthplace of a new way of losing weight.

"This is a good technique, I don't consider it extreme," explained Alicia Zamora, mother of Yomaria.

In the United States, this method of getting rid of excess weight is not yet very common – less than a hundred patients have used it in the Los Angeles clinic since 2009, while in Venezuela, where this operation costs $ 150 (against $ 2,000 in the United States), 900 people come to the tongue for a patch every month.
