Additional billions have been invested in innovative biotechnologies

The state program "Innovative Biotechnologies" includes more than 30 new events worth 150 billion rubles

Anna Afonina, BelaPANAmendments and additions have been made to the state program "Innovative Biotechnologies" for 2010-2012 and for the period up to 2015.

In particular, it includes more than 30 new events worth 150 billion rubles, and its total funding has been increased 1.6 times. This is stipulated by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of March 14, 2013 No. 180.

According to the press service of the Council of Ministers, the main investments will be directed to the creation of new production sites in scientific organizations, educational and healthcare institutions in order to introduce the most promising and competitive developments of Belarusian scientists.

At the same time, significant resources will be concentrated on the creation of highly profitable low-tonnage production of biotechnological products with high added value, based on modern genetic engineering and cellular technologies.

Among the most significant projects are the creation of production sites for the production of protective and stimulating compounds for pre–sowing treatment of agricultural seeds at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the creation of an International Scientific and Medical Center for Cellular Technologies for the Treatment of human diseases using stem cells, etc.

In addition, within the framework of a separate subprogram "Low-tonnage biotechnology", it is planned to create 12 new low-tonnage production of biological products for animal husbandry and healthcare.

The program "Innovative Biotechnologies" is the development of new modern technologies and the creation of new knowledge-intensive, high-tech industries in the field of agriculture, healthcare, food industry, bioenergy. In 2010-2012, more than 200 projects were completed within the framework of the program, 28 new enterprises and innovative productions were created. Taking into account the new activities of the program, it is planned to create four new enterprises and 17 new production facilities by 2015.
