The expert of the Ministry of Health: there is no medicine that can stop aging

Olga Tkacheva, a freelance gerontologist at the department, noted that aging is a complex process that immediately affects many organs and systems.

There can be no medicine that could stop the aging process. This was announced to TASS on Monday – the International Day of the Elderly – by the chief freelance gerontologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia Olga Tkacheva.

"There simply cannot be such a medicine [capable of stopping the aging process]. I can say as a scientist who is engaged in this," Tkacheva said.

She added that the aging process is complex, it immediately affects many organs and systems. Existing, even the most expensive, medications cannot significantly slow down the aging process if a person has no physical activity, he overeats, smokes and drinks alcohol, Tkacheva notes.
