Facebook will completely ban anti-vaccination advertising

On Tuesday, Facebook announced in its official blog that it was launching a new global policy: now any advertising dissuading people from getting vaccinated is prohibited on the social network. Instagram Facebook owns also applies to this rule. The social network also promises to support the dissemination of information about the benefits of vaccination, in particular, to motivate people to get vaccinated against the flu.

Previously, the company already had a policy according to which anti-scientific information about vaccinations could not be used in advertising, but bypassing this rule, it was still possible to promote the refusal of vaccination. Now such speculations are prohibited. Facebook, however, clarifies that the ban does not apply to ads containing criticism of government regulation of vaccination.

During a pandemic, it is especially important to understand how vaccines work and why they are needed. Different social networks have repeatedly spoken out against misinformation on this topic and try to control anti-vaccination content in different ways. For example, on Youtube, any videos promoting the refusal of vaccination and spreading anti-scientific information on this subject cannot be monetized.
