Bioengineering and bioinformatics at TSU

Training of bioengineers will begin in Tyumen

NewsProm.RuIn order to effectively and optimally train such personnel, Tyumen State University – the only university in the Tyumen Region – is recruiting for the first time for a new specialty "Bioengineering and Bioinformatics".

The rapid development of biology has led to the widespread use of new technologies and materials in various industries. There is a shortage of qualified personnel all over the world who are able to work productively in the field of bioengineering and bioinformatics. TSU undertakes to fill this gap in our region.

The curriculum focuses on the processes of creating new and modified biological objects, cell research, the study of the synthesis of artificial proteins, the analysis of genetic markers of the human body and, finally, gaining skills in creating special programs and websites that can be used in bioinformatics and bioengineering. The duration of study in this specialty will be 5 years, for admission you must pass the Unified State Exam in mathematics, Russian language and biology.

According to Irina Pak, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Head of the Department of Ecology and Genetics, medical institutions, forensic laboratories, research institutes and higher educational institutions are experiencing the need for specialists who possess the latest achievements of biology and are able to write computer programs for highly specialized tasks. At the same time, it is possible to get an education in the field of bioengineering and bioinformatics only in a few universities in Russia.
