British murderers will remain at large

Government destroys DNA samples

RT in RussianInvestigating crimes in the United Kingdom will soon become more difficult.

Detectives will not be able to use one of the main tools of the investigation in the near future – DNA analysis. By the end of May, by order of the government, the police must destroy all samples of genetic materials that they have stored for more than six months.

Martin Bottomley, the head of a special police team analyzing genetic materials, said that now some cases will become "simply impossible to investigate." According to court employee Patricia Wiltshire, this is a "crazy and retrograde measure." "The judicial system of Great Britain is respected all over the world, but it can damage our reputation," says Patricia Wiltshire.

The greatest success in the investigation of crimes in recent years, English detectives have been achieving precisely due to DNA analysis. By comparing the biomaterial molecules found at the crime scene and the DNA of the relatives of the alleged perpetrators, investigators were able to discover who was actually behind many crimes.

Thanks to DNA analysis, British law enforcement officers in 2006 managed to calculate the rapist-fetishist James Lloyd. In 1983-1986, there were several rapes in Yorkshire. The criminal tracked down women who returned home late at night, tied them up with stockings and raped them. The police were able to calculate the rapist only after 20 years with the help of the most modern methods of DNA analysis. During the search, more than 10 pairs of stilettos were found at Lloyd's.
