Rusnano was deprived of the status of a state corporation
<url>Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin signed a decree on December 17, according to which the state corporation "Rusnano" becomes an ordinary open joint stock company, the press service of the government reports.

Thus, Rusnano became the first state corporation to lose its special status. The government decree was issued within the framework of the law "On the Reorganization of the Russian Nanotechnology Corporation", which was signed by President Medvedev on July 26.

The Rusnano State Corporation, headed by Anatoly Chubais, was established in 2007 to finance nanotechnology projects, R&D (research and development) and education of personnel for the nanoindustry. For these purposes, she received 65 billion rubles from the state and will receive the same amount by 2015.

State corporations in Russia began to be organized in the second half of the "zero" as special legal forms. Each of them was formed with the help of a separate law, and therefore existed according to its own rules. In total , eight state corporations were created in the country: "Rusnano", "Rosavtodor", Housing and Communal Services Reform Fund, "Olimpstroy", "Rostechnologies", VEB, "Rosatom" and "Deposit Insurance Agency".

Experts have often criticized state corporations, as the form of their existence creates special rules for selected companies. In 2009, President Dmitry Medvedev called this form "unpromising". After that, the President instructed the government to develop a plan for the reorganization of state corporations. Putin then called state corporations a "necessity."

Now, according to the plan, Rosavtodor should also become joint-stock companies by the end of 2010. In 2012, VEB should be reorganized, in 2013 - the housing and utilities reform Fund, in 2014 - Rostechnologies, and in 2015, a year after the end of the Olympics, – Olimpstroy.
