Chubais met with the Minister of Employment and Economy of Finland

At the meeting, Anatoly Chubais, Chairman of the Management Board, CEO of the Russian Nanotechnology Corporation (RUSNANO), discussed with the Minister of Employment and Economy of Finland Mauri Pekkarinen the prospects for joint projects in the field of nanotechnology.

The development of cooperation between Finland and Russia in the field of nanotechnology is the main goal of the two–day visit, with which the delegation of the Russian Nanotechnology Corporation (RUSNANO) headed by the Chairman of the Management Board, CEO Anatoly Chubais is in Helsinki.

"We are negotiating joint projects in the field of nanotechnology with production in Russia," Anatoly Chubais stressed. The second purpose of his visit, the head of RUSNANO called "the answer to the question of how the Finnish economy, known for its unique innovative potential, is integrated into the new economic conditions."

Minister of Employment and Economy of Finland Mauri Pekkarinen stressed that the partnership of the Russian Federation and Finland in this area is "strategic, in which both sides strengthen their positions in the market." In his opinion, pilot projects in the field of nanotechnology, which will be implemented jointly by Russia and Finland, will serve to develop cooperation in other innovative areas.

Today, the RUSNANO delegation will meet with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nokia, Yorma Ollila, the management of Technopolis, the Finnish National Agency for Technology and Innovation Financing TEKES and the state investment Fund Sitra, where Russian guests will be introduced to the latest developments of Finnish companies.

Nanotechnology in Finland has been declared a priority scientific and technological field. Their development in 2005-2010 is stimulated by the FinNano program with an investment volume of 120 million euros. State funding of nanotechnology is focused on priority sectors for Finland – energy and environmental protection, healthcare, information and communication technologies, forestry, mechanical engineering and metalworking.
