The resource center "Development of Molecular and Cellular Technologies" opened in St. Petersburg State University
Demonstration sessions of various equipment units of the Center will last until April 26.
"In order to create a modern scientific infrastructure at St. Petersburg State University in 2010, they began to create a system of resource centers, and over 4 billion rubles were spent on equipment for 21 resource centers in two and a half years," said Igor Gorlinsky, the first Vice–rector of St. Petersburg State University for Academic and Scientific Work, opening the ceremony. – But all these investments would not make sense if, when creating resource centers, they did not rely on the existing scientific schools, researchers, and our youth at the University. We are ready to provide opportunities for our resource centers, including the one being opened today, and for scientific collaboration with our partners. After all, the main resource of St. Petersburg State University is intellectual, and it is for its development that we are working." Scientists coming to work at the St. Petersburg State University resource centers will be provided with office housing.
The center is intended for use by university researchers and third-party organizations in order to solve topical issues of biomedicine, such as the study of patterns and mechanisms of immune reactions, the development of the fundamentals of regenerative medicine, the study of the biology of aging and revitalization, as well as research in the biology of malignant neoplasms, neurodegenerative diseases.
The instrument base of the center has more than fifty units of basic analytical equipment and represents the following areas: electronic and optical microscopy, equipment for conducting research in various fields of molecular biology and cell biology.
The center's equipment allows complex experiments to be carried out with minimal time – from the creation of a sample to the analysis of the result. This approach will allow conducting complex experiments for which sample transportation is impossible and the time between the stages of the study is critical for the success of the entire experiment.
