ESMO's Guide to Cancer Prevention is on sale soon!

Руководство Европейской ассоциации медицинской онкологии (European Society for Medical Oncology, ESMO) по профилактике ракаOn Monday, February 11, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) announced the completion of work on the Guidelines for Cancer Prevention (ESMO Handbook of Cancer Prevention). This book was created in order to help individuals, doctors and governments reduce the burden of oncological diseases on society.

The guide includes information about the current level of development of oncology, as well as practical recommendations for reducing the risk of cancer, diagnostic screening to detect tumors and prevent their spread.

According to the newly elected president of ESMO, Professor David Kerr, more than 10 million people in the world are diagnosed with cancer every year. In fact, the formation of many tumors can be avoided by quitting smoking, changing the diet, preventing infectious diseases or using national screening programs.

The awareness-raising guide, which includes 22 chapters, provides a summary of important information on methods for preventing various forms of cancer, including lung, cervical, breast, prostate and colon cancers. The chapters on tobacco, alcohol, nutrition, occupational risks and hereditary predisposition contain recommendations on optimal methods for reducing the risk of developing malignant diseases.

The guide is part of ESMO's ongoing work to promote the importance of cancer prevention.

This week, the former president of ESMO, Professor Hakan Mellstedt (Hakan Mellstedt) will hold a presentation of the Manual in the framework of an event organized in Brussels by "Members of the European Parliament Against Cancer" (MAC) together with The Parliament Magazine.
