Pharmaceuticals and medical equipment entered the top three fastest growing industries in 2015

Despite the general decline in the Russian economy, the pharmaceutical business in 2015 showed an increase in production by 8.8%, the production of medical equipment – by more than 5%. They were second only to the IT industry, which topped the list, showing an increase of 28% compared to 2014.

Bloomberg analysts note that, despite the overall decline in Russian GDP for 2015 by 3.7%, some industries have shown impressive growth, including the production of medicines and medical devices.

The decline in GDP in the first quarter of 2016 was only 1.2% compared to the previous year, and in the next quarter we can expect the beginning of GDP growth year-on-year, the news agency notes.

The main problems of the economy remain the unsatisfactory business climate and the continued dependence of the budget on the hydrocarbon sector – in 2015 this figure was about 25%, in the period 2011-2014 it reached 50%.

In 2015, the American agency has already noted positive dynamics in the Russian medical industry, including the country in the list of 55 countries with the most effective healthcare system (guess which number – VM).
