Life expectancy in Russia: horror-horror-horror :(

Russia took the penultimate place in Europe in terms of life expectancy

Copper newsRussia was in the penultimate place among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in terms of life expectancy, according to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO).

On average, Russians live less than 70 years. The lowest life expectancy was registered in Kazakhstan (68.7 years), the highest in Switzerland (82.2 years).

In general, life expectancy in Europe has increased by five years since 1980 and reached 76 years in 2010. At the same time, the average in different countries varies from 82.2 to 68.7 years. There is a big difference between the life expectancy of women and men: on average, European ladies live up to 80 years, and representatives of the stronger sex – up to 72.5 years. Thus, by 2010, men had not yet reached the indicator that was observed in women in 1980.

For comparison, Spain is in the first place in this ranking, where the difference in life expectancy of men, on average, almost reaching 79 years, and women, reaching 85 years, is a little more than six years.

According to forecasts of the Russian Ministry of Health, subject to the implementation of the program "Development of healthcare" by 2020, the average life expectancy of the country's residents should grow to 76.1 years.
