On May 18, a scientific school-seminar began its work at SSU within the framework of the VI International conference "Nanoparticles, nanostructured coatings and microcontainers: technologies, properties, applications" taking place in Saratov.

– More than 30 scientists from 10 countries of the world came to us – Italy, USA, Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, Singapore, Australia, Thailand. As well as Russian scientists from Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don. The specialists we invited are some of the best in their field, we have been working with them on joint projects for many years," Dmitry Gorin, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor of SSU, told BV.

If the international conference on the topic is being held for the sixth time (the first was held in London in 2007), then the scientific school is organized for the first time. The invited guests will read more than 20 lectures to students, postgraduates, young scientists, teachers, and in English – it is customary, and Russian youth are used to it. For them, this is a great opportunity to understand the level of scientific work in advanced clinics and universities around the world, establish direct contacts, and improve their own knowledge.

"The International Conference is a great platform for discussing joint projects and exchanging experience," Gorin said. – Science has become interdisciplinary, physicists, biologists, physicians, chemists work together in the field of nanoparticles and nanostructured materials, and discoveries are made, as a rule, at the intersection of disciplines. I myself learn a lot from such meetings and discussions. One of the most extensive joint projects, in which scientists from Saratov State University and leading specialists from China, Germany, Belgium work – according to the Marie Curie program. The project is aimed at developing a system for delivering nanocomposite materials to the human body and is focused primarily on the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases. And cardiology is also important for our country.

The main scientific reports and discussions will begin on Thursday and last until Sunday. In total, it is planned to hear more than 50 reports. Among them are such topics as "Monitoring the biology of cancer cells using artificially created nanoparticles: prospects and problems", "DNA Repair v2.0: how nature corrects broken genes and how people use the methods provided by nature", "How to place everything in a tiny capsule and track its delivery?" and others.

The work of the scientific school and the conference is supported by the RFBR Foundation, sponsoring enterprises and a grant from the Marie Curie project.
