Outrage in pharmacies

Roshal called the situation in the Russian pharmacy chain an outrage

Copper newsToday, an outrage is happening in the pharmacy chain in the Russian Federation, says Leonid Roshal, a member of the Central Staff of the All-Russian Popular Front (ONF), head of the non-profit partnership "National Medical Chamber".

"I think it was high time to create a network of state libraries in Russia. It is necessary to counterbalance commercial structures that are primarily interested in making money," Roshal's words are quoted in the ONF press release.

The head of the chamber also noted that in Russia it is necessary to establish strict control over the pricing and assortment of medicines. In his opinion, pharmacies could not be transferred to "commercial hands" at all. "This is a problem of state security and how the state meets the basic needs of the population," Roshal said.

Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes with reference to expert data that about 18 thousand state pharmacies need to be created in Russia. Calculations are based on "Soviet standards": one pharmacy for ten thousand residents in a city and five thousand residents in villages. According to the director of the Pharmacy Guild Elena Nevolina, prices in state stores may be 25% lower.

On February 23, it became known that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to consider the feasibility of opening a network of state pharmacies. The order must be executed by April 15.
