Developed a neural network to estimate the effects of COVID-19

Scientists from Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) together with specialists from Perm State Agrarian and Technological University (PSATU) have created a neural network that can assess the impact of coronavirus on people of different ages, racial groups, and gender characteristics.

The neural network database was based on studies of immunograms of four groups (children at different ages) characterizing different stages of the disease. The structure and mutation of the SARS-CoV2 genome, as well as statistical data on the diseased were taken by the researchers from public sources.

"When developing a coronavirus vaccine, it is necessary to have a methodology to study the characteristics and assess the state of human immunity. Digitization of immunogram indicators at different states of immunoglobins (antibodies) can give a more complete picture at different stages of the disease," explained Sergey Kostarev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Information Technologies and Automated Systems at PNIIPU.

The Perm scientists' neural network will make it possible to assess the consequences of coronavirus infection for different population groups. Its use in practice will help to further develop simplified schemes for diagnosing COVID-19 in the human body, as well as create prerequisites for finding effective and economically feasible ways to treat the disease.
