Results of the VI Internet Olympiad on Nanotechnology
The sixth All-Russian Internet Olympiad on Nanotechnology has ended
The results of the VI All-Russian Internet Olympiad in Nanotechnology were summed up at Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Rusnano press center reports. The award ceremony was attended by Andrey Trapeznikov, Director of External Communications at Rusnano, and Alexey Khokhlov, Vice-Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The winners of the Olympiad, which has been held for the fifth year with the participation of Rusnano, receive benefits for admission to natural science faculties in all Russian federal universities.
The Olympiad, which started on January 14, 2012, gathered more than 8 thousand participants from 81 regions of Russia and CIS countries and included three stages: qualifying, grant and face-to-face, as well as a design competition.
According to the results of the correspondence tour, more than 200 participants were invited to the full-time one. At the same time, more than a third of the authors of the most successful project works who got on the face-to-face tour are also winners and prize-winners of the correspondence qualifying round.
More than 70 students-winners of the grant tour received financial support from the organizing committee to participate in the full-time tour at Moscow State University. In addition to the students who presented the project work, their scientific supervisors (teachers and tutors) were invited to the face-to-face tour.
Such companies as Intel, Samsung, AFK Sistema and NT-MDT took part in the organization of the competitive part of the Olympiad.
The winners of the competitive part of the program were able to get acquainted with the real enterprise of the nanoindustry – the Sitronics Nano company, which produces microelectronic chips with a topology of 90 nanometers. Schoolchildren were shown one of the most equipped microelectronics plants in Russia – the MICRON plant in the city of Zelenograd.
