A highly sensitive program has been created
to work with huge databases
DNA sequences

Junior Researcher of the Bioinformatics Educational and Scientific Center of the A.A. Harkevich Institute of Information Transmission Problems (IPPI RAS) Anna Kaznadzei took part in the creation of the NSimScan (Nucleotide Similarity Scanner) computer program, which allows finding related structures in DNA sequences. Novichkov et al., NSimScan: DNA comparison tool with increased speed, sensitivity and accuracy with a description of the program published in the journal Bionformatics (Oxford University Press). The description of the program is published in the journal Bionformatics (Oxford University Press).

"The NSimScan program works at the speed of the fastest analogues, significantly surpassing them in sensitivity and with a significantly reduced error rate," Anna Kaznadzei tells about the development. – It shows the best results when searching for structures that match by 55-90% in very large databases. This makes it convenient for large-scale comparative studies of DNA sequences."

The tool is available at https://github.com/abadona/qsimscan and suitable for running on Linux, OS X and Windows (with cygwin).
