Skolkovo: priority – diagnosis and treatment of cancer

Half of the participants of the Skolkovo cluster are engaged in cancer research

RIA NewsThe number of participants in the cluster of biological and medical technologies of the Skolkovo Foundation has now exceeded 200 companies, exactly half of them carry out projects in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment, said Executive director of the cluster Marek Dziki.

"As of July 1, the number of cluster residents is 222 companies, 22 of them received a total of 3 billion rubles as grants for their research," Dziki said on Monday at the cluster presentation at the 38th Annual Congress of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies.

Dziki presented statistics according to which the absolute majority of companies participating in the cluster, exactly half of the total number, are working on developing approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

The Skolkovo Innovation Center is to become Russia's largest testing ground for a new economic policy. Special conditions for research and development, including the creation of energy and energy-efficient technologies, nuclear, space, biomedical and computer technologies, will be created on a specially designated territory in the near Moscow region.
