The anti-vaccination worker lost the bet

The court ordered the anti-vaccination worker to pay 100 thousand euros for the existence of measles

IFL Science News: Measures Denier Forced To Pay €100,000 To Doctor Who Proved Measures Is A Virus

German Stefan Lanka, an opponent of vaccinations, was sentenced by a court to pay €100,000 to a doctor David Barden, who provided him with evidence of the existence of the measles virus.

Lanka is a biologist and an opponent of vaccinations. To emphasize the absurdity of looking at measles as a viral infection (Lanka himself considers it a psychosomatic disease), four years ago he published on his website an offer to pay €100,000 to anyone who proves that there is a measles virus. The German doctor Barden responded to this announcement, who sent scientific publications available in the public domain via Google Scholar to Lanka and demanded a reward. Lanka refused to pay, and Barden sued him. Last week, the Ravensburg court found Barden's claims justified and sentenced Lanka to pay the promised amount.

Lanka intends to appeal the decision and threatens Barden with legal costs exceeding the amount awarded.
