The number of centenarians has increased in Japan

AN-onlineOn the territory of Japan, the number of centenarians is growing every year.

According to experts, soon the number of residents of this country, whose age exceeds 100 years, will reach more than 59,000 people.

The number of centenarians of the country is gradually approaching the mark of six tens of thousands of residents who have long crossed the mark of a hundred years. Currently, their number already amounts to 58.8 thousand people, and over the past year the increase amounted to 4.4 thousand people.

Statistics show that approximately 87% of centenarians are representatives of the beautiful half of humanity. The oldest person in Japan is Misao Okawa from Osaka, who turned 116 last March.

Although, of course, there is a negative trend – despite the fact that the Japanese have begun to live longer, the population of the land of the Rising Sun is rapidly aging. Only 13% of teenagers under 15 live in the country now, but more than 25% of the country's residents are already over 65, which indicates a low birth rate.
