The passing pennant is "the oldest"

The oldest person on Earth has died in the USA

Rossiyskaya Gazeta, 05.12.2012

American Bessie Cooper – the oldest person on Earth – died in the American city of Monroe (Georgia) at the 117th year of life.

It is reported by ITAR-TASS with reference to her son Sidney Cooper.

Bessie Cooper got into the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest inhabitant of the planet in January 2011.

However, in May of the same year, the decision was revised in favor of Brazilian Maria Gomez Valentin (right), who turned out to be 48 days older than the American.

After the death of Maria Gomez in June last year, Bessie was again recognized as the oldest woman in the world.

Bessie Cooper was born on August 26, 1896 in Tennessee. After completing her studies, Bessie moved to Georgia to become a school teacher. Soon she married Luther Cooper, whom she outlived by almost half a century after 40 years of marriage.

At the age of 105, Bessie moved to a nursing home, where she died.

To date, the oldest person on Earth is a 115-year-old American of Italian descent, Dina Manfredini.

She was born in Italy on April 4, 1897, and now lives in Iowa.
