A scientific and practical conference "The influence of the domestic pharmaceutical industry on the quality of the treatment process" was held in Nizhny Novgorod, organized by the Nizhny Novgorod Association of Pharmacists, the TU Roszdravnadzor and NizhGMA. Svetlana Kononova, Doctor of Pharmacy, Dean of the Nizhny Novgorod Pharmaceutical Faculty, Professor, Chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod Association of Pharmacists, made a report on the development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry as a factor in ensuring the availability of medical care. She drew attention to the fact that in the coming years it is planned to actively develop biotechnological areas in the Russian Federation. Today, the share of the Russian Federation accounts for 0.2% of the annual turnover of biotechnological drugs. But it is planned that by 2030, 80% of medicines will belong to this category. "Thus, the pharmaceutical industry will undergo fundamental changes. Technological engineers, biotechnologists, specialists in international standardization and control over the implementation of these standards, marketers, product promotion managers will be needed," Svetlana Kononova said. In this regard, the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical University conducted research to determine whether these specialties are interesting for graduates. 87% of respondents answered that they are interested in them, but 96% are not ready to work as process engineers, biotechnologists and quality control specialists. 44% are partially ready to work as marketers and product promotion specialists, because they know the products, are able to establish contacts and know the methods of conducting marketing research.
