What does genetically modified rice look like?

Hundreds of Internet users tasted 30 kg of genetically modified rice

People's Daily OnlineOn February 8, samples of genetically modified rice were tested at Jingqin Station in Beijing.

80 volunteers from among Internet users ate about 3 kg of genetically modified rice.

On this day, a tasting of such rice was held in more than 20 cities, including Xi'an and Hangzhou. All products came from Huazhong Agricultural University, a total of 30 kg of genetically modified rice was allocated for the project.

Earlier, some opponents of such products made assumptions that this category of goods does not meet the state requirements for the production and processing of genetically modified crops, however, the organizers of the tasting and Huazhong Agricultural University stated that the samples are conducted only for scientific purposes, are not related to commercial production and processing.

According to the organizer of the event, the head of the Wu Xingchuan Science Park, in total, the tasting was held in 23 cities, at the moment it was attended by just under 500 people.
