Applications for subsidies for innovative companies are accepted in St. Petersburg

Applications for the right to receive subsidies for innovative companies of St. Petersburg from the city budget totaling 55 million rubles have started, the press service of the Committee for Economic Development, Industrial Policy and Trade reports.

This year, 5 types of expenses will be subsidized: for the protection of intellectual property rights – 1.5 million rubles, for the rental of real estate or the use of unique equipment – 15.5 million rubles, for the production and sale of innovative products for export – 25 million rubles, for participation in Russian and international exhibitions, fairs, forums, conferences and seminars - 3 million rubles, training and retraining of personnel for work in high–tech industries of St. Petersburg - 10 million rubles.

"Compared to last year, the volume of budget funds aimed at subsidizing the costs of innovative companies has increased by 20%," says Sergey Fiveysky, First Deputy Chairman of KERPPiT. – Also, instead of four types of subsidies this year, we are offering five. The largest amount of funds is allocated to subsidize the costs of exporting innovative products. We consider subsidizing the costs of innovative companies as one of the most effective and popular types of direct financial support for innovation activities in St. Petersburg. Its peculiarity is the compensation of part of the costs that have already been incurred by companies, which gives them the opportunity to more flexibly approach the planning of their activities and facilitates the procedure for submitting documents for the competition."

50% of the costs actually incurred in 2009 will be subsidized. Applications will be accepted on August 20. The companies that have submitted applications must comply with the methodology for classifying organizations as an innovative type, have no debts to budgets of all levels and make one of the types of expenses for which subsidies are provided in 2009.

This year, the procedure for summing up the results of the Competition for the right to receive subsidies becomes public, and the mechanism for selecting and evaluating companies is transparent: the opening of envelopes with applications will take place not only in the presence of representatives of companies, the heads of public organizations and business associations will also be part of the competition commission along with representatives of CERPPiT. Then, within two weeks, the commission will evaluate the applications, after which it will announce the results of the competition.

Recall that in 2008, in the course of the comprehensive program of measures for the implementation of innovation policy in St. Petersburg, subsidies were issued for four types of costs totaling 44.65 million rubles. The winners of the competition were 27 enterprises and organizations that were subsidized by 45 applications (one company could apply for subsidizing several types of costs).
