Grants (scholarships) for participation in the international PhD program in Germany
The Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB), located in Mainz (Germany), announces the acceptance of applications for participation in the international PhD program.
The duration of the program is 3 years with the possibility of extension.
The program starts on March 1, 2014, the official language of the program is English, participants are required to have a master's degree or its equivalent.
The theme of the program is “Dynamics of Gene Regulation, Epigenetics and DNA Damage Response". Talented promising specialists who are able to work on research projects at the forefront of biological science as part of highly motivated scientific groups are invited to participate in the competition.
The research groups participating in the program work as part of four scientific institutions:
- Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB)
- Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU)
- University Medical Center (UMC)
- Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPI-P)
The fellows will work as part of scientific groups conducting research on a wide range of biological and biology-related disciplines: biochemistry, genetics, cellular and evolutionary biology, embryonic development biology, bioinformatics, physics (development of microscopes with maximum resolution); interdisciplinary cooperation and innovative research are welcome, the closest possible cooperation of groups working on different research areas.
The program is funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation. Participants of the program receive a scholarship that fully covers all living and training expenses.
The application form should be completed in English. Before the deadline for submitting applications, the competition commission must receive two letters of recommendation in support of the applicant by E-mail.
Applicants selected by the commission at the first stage will be invited to a face-to-face interview in Mainz, which will take place on February 9-11, 2014.
The deadline for submitting applications is November 25, 2013.
