Obama proposes to allocate $1 billion for industrial innovations

US President Barack Obama proposes to invest a billion dollars in creating a network of national institutes for industrial innovation.
"The President will announce on Friday a project to create a network of national institutes for innovation in industry, involving the creation of up to 15 institutes throughout the country, which will become regional centers for the development of the latest technologies in the industrial sector. They will help strengthen the competitiveness of our manufacturers and increase the volume of investments in the US economy. The budget proposed by the president provides for the allocation of a billion dollars to create a network of national institutes for innovation in industry," the White House said in a statement published on March 9.
Obama, who is scheduled to speak at the Rolls-Royce plant in Richmond (Virginia) on Friday, will also offer to select a pilot project for the creation of one of the institutes through a competition and allocate a grant of $ 45 million from the funds of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Energy and the National Science Foundation.
"The institutes will bring together specialists from universities, colleges, federal agencies and the industrial sector, as well as representatives of state authorities," the White House said in a statement.
"The task of the institutes will be to develop technologies to solve large–scale industrial problems and provide the industrial sector with new opportunities necessary to reduce the cost and risk of introducing new technologies," the document says.
It is assumed that the institutes will be engaged, in particular, in the creation of high-tech and environmentally friendly materials for the production of a new generation of cars, airplanes, ships and trains, the development of new printing technologies and the compilation of recommendations to ensure maximum efficiency of resources, water and energy by industrial enterprises.
