The reason for this, Katyrin believes, "is the complete absence or weak competition in the main sectors of the economy." "In Russia, the main donor of scientific research is the state itself, Katyrin noted. In the USA, this is mainly done by private business. In this area, we are losing out to the advanced countries of the world many times."

"Innovation and modernization are stalling in our country.
